Snowbirds are Back in Destin

As we say goodbye to 2017 and Florida’s brief cold snap, we are excited to welcome a heat wave this week and welcome back the snowbirds for the new year!

We are very excited to welcome snowbirds back to Destin! Whether this is your first year traveling to Florida for the winter months, or it’s been a tradition in your family for decades, we are delighted to have you back. We like to extend an extra warm welcome to the snowbird groups as well! There are two snowbird social clubs in which snowbirds can meet with other snowbirds and enjoy some of the local events together, like social or sport gatherings. The Snowbird Clubs also double as a hub for information about the area, like services, activities, dining and shopping. There are two local social clubs for snowbirds, based on the area they vacation. For snowbirds who flock Okaloosa County, or near Destin Commons to Okaloosa Island, then your club of choice is is the Destin Snowbird Club. this Club meets on Tuesdays in a place called the Roost, inside of the Destin Community Center.

The other group of snowbirds we welcome flock to the Miramar Beach area, practically east of Destin Commons heading east to the 30A highway. This snowbird group is the Walton County Snowbirds, and they meet on Wednesday mornings at the Destin United Methodist Church.

These social clubs boast roughly two thousand members, making meeting and socializing with other snowbirds a breeze, and making it easier to find some you have things in common with.

Most snowbirds find solace in doing some great activities in Florida that they would otherwise not be able to do in the snow. Golfing in Destin on one of the many nearby courses is made easier when you don’t have to track a white ball in white snow! Tennis and fishing are also enjoyable in the brisk but not so cold weather Destin provides. In fact, most boating is fun to do in Destin all year around, especially taking a cruise to see some of the Floridian dolphins.

No matter which group you are a part of, we would be delighted to have you join our crew here at Southern Star Dolphin Cruise. While enjoying a relaxing two-hour cruise from the Destin Harbor to the emerald colored waters of the Gulf, you’ll learn all about the history of the area and all the spots the locals love from one of our three Captains.

Enjoy the beauty that the Gulf of Mexico has to offer from our 80-foot, glass bottom boat during a 2-hour dolphin watching excursion you’ll never forget. For availability and booking rates, visit our website or give us a call at 850-837-7741.
