On November 12th, 2026, the SS United States will be sunk about 22 nautical miles off the coast of Destin to become the world’s largest artificial reef. Join us aboard the Southern Star as the fastest ocean liner in history makes her final voyage.
Our 80-foot vessel offers plenty of room to spread out, with two levels of viewing and a climate-controlled cabin to stay comfortable on the ride out and back. Tickets for the SS United States Sinking Cruise include a hot dog meal and one adult beverage. You may also purchase additional snacks and drinks onboard.

FAQs:
Where are you located?
We’re located at HarborWalk Village, 100 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL 32541. Check in at the red ticket booth on the marina level, on the left-hand side of Margaritaville.
How far offshore will you go? Do people ever get seasick?
The sinking will take place about 22 nautical miles southwest of Destin, so this cruise goes much farther offshore than our regular dolphin cruises. The United States Coast Guard has granted special permits to the Southern Star and other vessels to witness this historic event. Gulf conditions can be choppy, so if you’re prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking medication before boarding.
What should we bring?
We recommend bringing a light jacket, sunscreen, camera, portable charger, and binoculars. You may also bring your own snacks and drinks, but no coolers, glass, or outside alcohol are allowed on the Southern Star. Cash for tips is also appreciated.
Is there food? Do you serve drinks?
Each ticket for this cruise includes a hot dog meal and one adult beverage. Guests must be 21 or older with a valid ID for alcoholic beverages. Additional snacks and drinks are available for purchase at our galley.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
The main deck is accessible for manual wheelchairs only. Scooters and motorized wheelchairs are too large and too heavy to accommodate on our vessel.
How close will we be to the ship?
For safety, all vessels must stay outside the official safety perimeter set for the event. We recommend bringing binoculars for a closer look.
What happens if the sinking is rescheduled?
The date and time are set by Okaloosa County and may change due to weather or other conditions. If the event is rescheduled, guests will be notified and offered a refund or a ticket for the new date.
